Fenrir Showcase

This miniature was used to break my dry spell. It is Fenrir from the game Blood Rage.

Fenrir was, according to Ancient Origins website:

One of the three children of Loki by a giantess (jötunn) named Angrboða, Fenrir plays an imperative, though short, role in Norse mythology.  A wolf of remarkable size and strength, Fenrir has one major story recorded in the Norse sagas, yet this singular story paints a picture of bravery for one god and an omen of death for the rest of them.  Fenrir, unfortunately for the Æsir and Vanir, turned out to be one of the many foreshadowing signs of the end of the Norse world: Ragnarök.

Looking up a Timber Wolf he was painted with more or less the same colors. Being a Norse game, I added some dead grass and of course snow. This snow was the first time I used the snow from Precision Ice and Snow.  Two thumbs up from for for that stuff!!

He painted up easily so there's no WIP pics. Thanks for looking.

CMON Mountain Giant

Reaching back in the Blood Rage game, I pulled out the Mountain Giant. This is a softish type plastic which made getting rid of the seams a little difficult.
Looking at the box art, everything seems to be tans and browns.

Not liking the disk shaped base I cut it off. the next step will be to creat a little vignette for the giant. Check back and thanks for looking.

Troll !!!

This guy has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time now. Up and off to my left I have all my smaller "kits." Some, like these minis, are ready for painting others are actually kits. So when I have put something else together and am waiting for it to dry, I grab one of these figures and I paint with whatever I happen to have on my palette. This is one of the Trolls from the board game Blood Rage.

Disclaimer: I was part of the Kickstarter, so I don't know whats in the regular retail box vs all the stuff I got so this Troll may or may not be there.

Anyway here's my Troll. Once again I am guilty of not seeing obvious seams and not doing anything about them once seen. I'll redouble my efforts next time.
The base has been done with the new Vallejo Earth Paste, and some Woodland Scenics Snow mixed with glue.

The Frost Giant Finale

A short post tonight.
Well, I've finally decided the Giant is finished. Once again it's more like abandoning it that finishing it because I feel I could keep tinkering with it. :-P
Anyway, I added some Z scale spruce trees and some snow. Thanks for looking.

The Frost Giant (part 3)

This time around I was tackling the base. But first I had to cut off the base the Giant already had. Easier said than done. I took a fine saw and it just wasn't making a dent. So finally I got my sprue cutters and went at it -
Once he was off the plastic disk. I chose one of the numerous water "bowls" that I have hanging around from my spider enclosures. I filled it with Celluclay, and once dry Put a layer of Aves over the top. From there I  took some loosely wadded up tin foil and  made some suggestion of ground work.  Then I pushed the Giant and some Z scale spruce trees into the Aves.

The Frost Giant (part 2)

As I'm painting a 3rd highlight I say to myself "If he's a Frost Giant, why is he so tanned?" So I broke out new colors and am calling the figure done with this rendition - -

The base is next. Thanks for looking.

Blood Rage's Frost Giant

The Frost Giant is one of a set of about a gazillion figures from the Blood Rage game's Kickstarter (see thew Acquisitions link  below for the story). Starting off with a primer, I once again fell into the trap of looking and not finding seams -

You may have seen this before, as he was 1/3 of set that I recently published in a New Acquisitions post. From here, and the fact that he was from a Viking Game (singing the lyrics to Led Zep's Immigrant Song in my head right now) and decided since he's from the Land of Ice and Snow, he has to give an appearance of cold. So what I did was add a little blue to the colors I used.

Here he is as of last night. Getting back to the seams - once I started painting the figure - yep, I started to see them. Sigh. I took off what I could, but I have to admit I left a few. Looking at the other Giants, this one was the worst for seams. The rest should cause less headaches.
Anyway, the hair and rock are finished, but the skin only has a base coat on it. I took the next two pic before giving it a shot of Dull Cote and calling it a night. Thanks for looking.
