Play by Jenny Agutter, the likeness is very good! The kit comes in 2 parts - the bust and the base. The figure is in 1/4 scale. This figure will also complete the trio with David and Jack. First thing I looked for a good portrait that shows eye color etc... </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAIEew8I_AO-s1eYBPHz7VuR7SnclLvBEUgIfIX1rK4OWNsjYrbYxBeA1Iy9aG_bRPOdo13DQfIDc6qTjMe5cfHBPIsYHccvOi_fNslwhiA4Qvv63ivOKTqnX7l7yA6zRW2V2994KDcbEGQNy4E37NYhSGpsVP7MeG7sTLpEnFUH62f28jS1vbEvjP/s1284/IMG_6429.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1112" data-original-width="1284" height="277" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAIEew8I_AO-s1eYBPHz7VuR7SnclLvBEUgIfIX1rK4OWNsjYrbYxBeA1Iy9aG_bRPOdo13DQfIDc6qTjMe5cfHBPIsYHccvOi_fNslwhiA4Qvv63ivOKTqnX7l7yA6zRW2V2994KDcbEGQNy4E37NYhSGpsVP7MeG7sTLpEnFUH62f28jS1vbEvjP/s320/IMG_6429.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> After a wash and super easy clean up, I gave the kit a priming. Next I too some thinned inks, and gave it a few shots of blue and purple. I kept the center with a yellow as I was planning on giving the pentagram a splatter of blood. I think I over did it with the inks, and anyway the highlights lightened with the white was too close together to make it stand out. Before we pick up with Pebbles, I have to mention this figure painted, whose YouTube channel is called <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@Groundeffected">Groundeffected</a>. He has been toying with a number of different ways to replicate skin - from the dots of various colors under the skin tone, to washes on and on. What he's going recently and what I tried was to paint the skin areas a purple-pink, and then a strong red from below. Having done it, I thought to myself "No way!" this is going to work even tho I see the YT guy do it. So on go the purple pink and the red. </span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsOIlfogCjO73emVFVZvE4nF4RNWfkl_lZj3omGETfken2QaFzxf1jgyqYWBhFieZJ4MAq540S-YQyOnClXV4TehZzSKF4J1ODHVoAabQLbQvcb2rJuO3N35tvDspdJhO0-0ARSgghLN6o8WG83f2J5-mfL5D8Fep-QGBp2cY7NRydhktEFTNpc3vu/s640/IMG_6434.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="408" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsOIlfogCjO73emVFVZvE4nF4RNWfkl_lZj3omGETfken2QaFzxf1jgyqYWBhFieZJ4MAq540S-YQyOnClXV4TehZzSKF4J1ODHVoAabQLbQvcb2rJuO3N35tvDspdJhO0-0ARSgghLN6o8WG83f2J5-mfL5D8Fep-QGBp2cY7NRydhktEFTNpc3vu/s320/IMG_6434.jpg" width="204" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana;">Letting that dry, it's time for the magic to happen when I simply apply light coats of a flesh color over the previous colors. You know what? It worked! "Your Dad" as the YT guy calls himself says to leave a bit of the purple pink and red to act as shadow colors. Gotta say - I like the result. </span><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib251mFZck7XuwNszx2YyyMqOKw8mRQBqd-xdgtCoVw7HgU62sQJ9uCjc0Y8GE-9woQRwJgNpV9sH-NjjWlW0B_AmxtVIAsffl4nF3L0YWxf8PSMz0DiAV1XJPzXCug1R1vq-e53i7B_Kd0__q-Vd5GBJ8rroVzttYHo1zyGf3i1rkNJV1W5cAevjV/s640/IMG_6437.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="461" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib251mFZck7XuwNszx2YyyMqOKw8mRQBqd-xdgtCoVw7HgU62sQJ9uCjc0Y8GE-9woQRwJgNpV9sH-NjjWlW0B_AmxtVIAsffl4nF3L0YWxf8PSMz0DiAV1XJPzXCug1R1vq-e53i7B_Kd0__q-Vd5GBJ8rroVzttYHo1zyGf3i1rkNJV1W5cAevjV/s320/IMG_6437.jpg" width="231" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana;">While that was drying I toned down the red hair and also painted the cord of the necklace. Next session I'll come back and give the skin some highlights and then on to the clothes. In Filmy's sample he has her in a realistic tiger stripe. But in the cartoon. Pebbles is wearing-what I thought was pink and purple stripe, but a closer look is pink and red - still cool I guess. Check back for that.</span><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyDaW_U9Lv5loBsMxjYRyV4KspLoFQBdBTFugixo_jz3Ag9ZINGLAXuXwW0a1ujAyxEKNZhJEkdH4tDrTsq_-IFpvZw2Xh0esxjhXvCPlIaE3L58m-SHsFlWHfy8pjVFmR1f6dsUSjeKTSF7kVmF3SWsIAM-kim8JzKkLpLLQMl91If3cxhRy6PMgn/s700/pebbles.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="531" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyDaW_U9Lv5loBsMxjYRyV4KspLoFQBdBTFugixo_jz3Ag9ZINGLAXuXwW0a1ujAyxEKNZhJEkdH4tDrTsq_-IFpvZw2Xh0esxjhXvCPlIaE3L58m-SHsFlWHfy8pjVFmR1f6dsUSjeKTSF7kVmF3SWsIAM-kim8JzKkLpLLQMl91If3cxhRy6PMgn/s320/pebbles.jpg" width="243" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span><p></p><p><br /></p>Kevin Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11467784071901676323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288699427458027210.post-17450589755642368752024-02-21T22:29:00.002-05:002024-02-21T22:29:19.952-05:00FRankenstein"s Creation Finale<p> <span style="font-family: verdana;">Thanks for stopping back for the finale. Continuing on, the first thing was to cover over all the veins etc. with some yellow ochre. My "new" usual is to then lightly mist the recessed areas with dome Reikland Fleshshade thru the airbrush. While that was drying I added some blues and whites to the iceberg. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Next was some dark Black Brown for the hair, and then roughly dry-brushed some cork brown on the dark blue gray jacket to simulate grave dirt. ;) I went back and added some Woodland Senics snow to the iceberg and glued that in place<br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">With the skin dried, I added color to all the little cuts and gouges he had including the scalpel cuts. Going back to the hair I went with the next lighter color brown for a few highlights. He was supposed to have really dark hair so I did my best to show the strands while keeping it dark. The eyeballs were already black, so I added the same yellow ochre for the iris, and then added beige to the sclera. Once dried both colors were lightened and then a black pupil was added with a cut toothpick. So I started out with a black primer. the heart of each Filmy’s Girls kit is a female heroine, posed in a
tasteful way that is sexy, yet not offensive. Each of our designs calls

setting that tells a story in a humorous way. We want our kits to bring
a smile to your face, and to the faces of everyone who sees your
finished buildup.</span></span></p></blockquote><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Honestly, these kits are a bit out of my price range. But when I heard Moondevil studio's <a href="https://www.facebook.com/john.dennett.545">John Dennett</a> used Mary Shelley's written description and it was different than the Universal monster, I had to have it. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">The description of the Creation was a very tall man, with yellow skin that was so translucent that you could almost see the veins underneath. He also had black hair and yellow watery eyes. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Produced in 2016, this kit has been in the stash for quite a while. The 1:3rd scale bust comes in two blue resin parts and only has the slightest seam line, mostly seen around what I think the the iceberg base. I forgot to take a pic until I had the primer on it. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJlHXss85Scer7yMBtOPMuJuwk1wAEClsMPzemEzeHeWcRTHYbH9LeassH5somVHo2Dhne3Xa3n_bP8-W_JygeyDfY3WFXreXdJKROsuwPmUwz7v7KsF2WxguL6rwwAsZXap3uVG_wSJF4xP4qFj4_W3nzrDrA7rruRlcuboaG5PPLfeHCpLJp7X0f/s640/IMG_6136.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="356" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJlHXss85Scer7yMBtOPMuJuwk1wAEClsMPzemEzeHeWcRTHYbH9LeassH5somVHo2Dhne3Xa3n_bP8-W_JygeyDfY3WFXreXdJKROsuwPmUwz7v7KsF2WxguL6rwwAsZXap3uVG_wSJF4xP4qFj4_W3nzrDrA7rruRlcuboaG5PPLfeHCpLJp7X0f/s320/IMG_6136.jpg" width="178" /></a></div><br /> To mimic the veins under the skin I applied the tried and truth method of super thin lines of many colors with an airbrush. <p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"> </span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVJncv9qvi8aYF3EeapoU1zB_1WK3pO1eztbQfZlu1JZ9W38C1D5Rw_Wc0XkPWv8T9ivCel1JYLGswccDEBpiQx7jAvP2xsAgSBV9_cggPyH0V0ElrJ63CUpV-CLAHKOfGckLQbsblZHB0eP8eFP6xu7BOT7NSnZUg6b4TRixhTQfIh9UbYdIvtlpu/s640/IMG_6167.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="394" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVJncv9qvi8aYF3EeapoU1zB_1WK3pO1eztbQfZlu1JZ9W38C1D5Rw_Wc0XkPWv8T9ivCel1JYLGswccDEBpiQx7jAvP2xsAgSBV9_cggPyH0V0ElrJ63CUpV-CLAHKOfGckLQbsblZHB0eP8eFP6xu7BOT7NSnZUg6b4TRixhTQfIh9UbYdIvtlpu/s320/IMG_6167.jpg" width="197" /></a></div><br />All the lines really hid the super detail that the skin has, so I took some Citadel Agrax Wash and applied it all over the skin. Sculpted by Kent Kidwell the kit is in 3 parts - bust, tree, and sign.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"> Seems I dove into this kit to the point where I don't have any WIP of it. It's just typical, IMHO Wolfman colors ;) . It struck me that this sculpt should have some OSL. I'm not very good at it, so the more I can practice the better. Quist Finale<p> <span style="font-family: verdana;">Continuing on, the first thing I noticed was that I got the colors of his clothes reversed. I thought the fur jacket was light but darker than his shirt. Wrong. So that had to be fixed.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL1tFXEnxKMjw76R-iWLpPDNCXpWLbs3B7CWCXgZ4ZG4psKsvHtcfsisQeZCZU3fNDzBNLFzc95haMLrnsTTYGck1MgeiGEuI_5uGwt2G57vB_hnO-1bC2Zkib3vFAeRaShJhMaeCsbjTNXMXODOaMpqa6oNW2oHNoXSPN21V69Hot_wkPI46wRtTf/s640/IMG_6076.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL1tFXEnxKMjw76R-iWLpPDNCXpWLbs3B7CWCXgZ4ZG4psKsvHtcfsisQeZCZU3fNDzBNLFzc95haMLrnsTTYGck1MgeiGEuI_5uGwt2G57vB_hnO-1bC2Zkib3vFAeRaShJhMaeCsbjTNXMXODOaMpqa6oNW2oHNoXSPN21V69Hot_wkPI46wRtTf/s320/IMG_6076.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Then the kit had an obvious 5 o"clock shadow (or maybe longer) on his face. My usual way of tackling that is to get out the dark blue pastels. When done, I wasn't exactly happy with it. I thought that maybe some brown would tone the blue down, but that just made things look worse. So after a face washing, it was back to more blue. I'm going to keep this open in case I come up with a better idea.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Finally I added some dark red clear UV resin to his stump hand and I was calling this one done. Aliens. An homage to the Monster movies from the 50s and 60s, the story is a bride to be gets hit my a meteorite of Quantonium, grows incredibly large and is capture and sent to monster "jail" with other monster inmates. An alien comes to Earth to </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">destroy the Earth, and </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">recover his Quantonium. A general and the President releases the monsters to fight the alien. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">A few years back on producer released a Dr. Cockroach (one of the monsters) kit. After that nothing. so I decided to get some of my Cosclay, and do the Missing Link from the movie. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqjX-JBzbqz_AWD5-DhlteKrp11eO_-S0Y48-qwiVFYqkE1brbD8Xz-GhmxmHWFPHo0lUQ79RjSDS8SHe8gQVDHKhogvnoNtO_jHXdc_8JDSMHlXhGJwoSXbz2wj3Iuf0eV1mvRWoJc_QAf9R9wlv4rTDuDdi9_19bXcD0nCqPbDassnPfa6wLyCEw/s1024/Monsters-vs-aliens-characters-flipbook-image-4-3x4.webp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqjX-JBzbqz_AWD5-DhlteKrp11eO_-S0Y48-qwiVFYqkE1brbD8Xz-GhmxmHWFPHo0lUQ79RjSDS8SHe8gQVDHKhogvnoNtO_jHXdc_8JDSMHlXhGJwoSXbz2wj3Iuf0eV1mvRWoJc_QAf9R9wlv4rTDuDdi9_19bXcD0nCqPbDassnPfa6wLyCEw/s320/Monsters-vs-aliens-characters-flipbook-image-4-3x4.webp" width="240" /></a></div><br /> This is the image I used for my pose - of course another image added the feet. After having another look at the image of the Ghost from the movie, I couldn't get past that the Ghost was too colorful - lively looking.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">To remedy this I too some watered down V. So I wanted to make sure he was finished by this one. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">He is the Ghost of Christmas Past, played by <a href="https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0230823/?ref_=tt_cl_t_16">Michael Dolan</a>, from the <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044008/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_1951%2520christmas%2520carol">1951 version of A Christmas Carol</a>. Sculptor <a href="https://www.facebook.com/john.dennett.545">John Dennett</a> has a number of bust in his Christmas Carol series. The kit is a two piece 1/5 scale bust in nearly flawless resin. There was a very fine seam line in his hair that was quickly dispatched. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">My "problem" with these type of characters is do I paint it as the character, a ghost? Or do I paint it as the actor playing a ghost? (Thinking too much?) My idea was for the former, and so I primed it blue. Thinking about it, my last ghost in this series was painted as a ghost, so I changed my mind and this one would be the actor.<br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"> </span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7_JBAoSlj4GK1jHJEn8Z9bpt8gCLnbt5OhibrjKiOgehnaBmrj9kE0HDuYYGEpBzsVtCcDFRZXMTQ3UusoVw-aXQmihPNm0HeTZOebkNduIkCc0kNRsepbUyxRZ9X4dwfVmhQ8-eKCQIHUR2jjrdaeuo8EFidg73306qBX1itit93MzFwfb_k8rlo/s640/IMG_5696.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="414" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7_JBAoSlj4GK1jHJEn8Z9bpt8gCLnbt5OhibrjKiOgehnaBmrj9kE0HDuYYGEpBzsVtCcDFRZXMTQ3UusoVw-aXQmihPNm0HeTZOebkNduIkCc0kNRsepbUyxRZ9X4dwfVmhQ8-eKCQIHUR2jjrdaeuo8EFidg73306qBX1itit93MzFwfb_k8rlo/s320/IMG_5696.jpg" width="207" /></a></div><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">As with others in this series color is always a problem with the film being in B&W. I guess I have a problems with "almost whites" as they never seem bright enough to me. So I ended up giving up and painted the gown just white, and then backed into the shadow colors. I was also having troubles with the skin color. I would end up with the skin too healthy looking or too pale - again the white on white on white problem. <br /><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWoV_9_IBx71tdx5HaCW8RxGySEVzu2n-GTX0M26R7rYJA9Eoaqext9jG4BdjswkCyjfskqT8EW4arFEWeK1ajiXcrvLkvs0qspueBvRK_WAylMJIMkc0LNulb2H9NPj4IQHodb4VlWvUPQKJoOnD_Mqtz71pXWefwFhoTFpqHParGSZojrv_Sxw0g/s640/IMG_5742.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="414" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWoV_9_IBx71tdx5HaCW8RxGySEVzu2n-GTX0M26R7rYJA9Eoaqext9jG4BdjswkCyjfskqT8EW4arFEWeK1ajiXcrvLkvs0qspueBvRK_WAylMJIMkc0LNulb2H9NPj4IQHodb4VlWvUPQKJoOnD_Mqtz71pXWefwFhoTFpqHParGSZojrv_Sxw0g/s320/IMG_5742.jpg" width="207" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana;">I followed an idea a you Tuber had (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/@Groundeffected">Groundeffected</a>) where he just mushes three colors together and roughly mixes them up for the base. Not because I haven't been doing anything - just getting off the duff and taking pics.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">To finish up the wings were epoxied on. Also I noticed that when I put the "pine needles" on I cut them from a disposable paint brush. The brush looked straw color until cut into pieces. Then they looked transparent. Ugh! </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsF7KvNwRKnRj9uzi9cqR0sMdQyK3Xx9nZvk0aLzODveSePgxV_VLXEAOhosRm1fV1GD9e6akmXyPgp8cs7Co_sgL3xDsvznMBduu1H9La77Wa19OneAt5TcJCJ9ZQ8vi8f31JQz3jMKuMlhN1CDW3u9MtOfKSr3SgbJ_MhkeZ2uOyrcuTeUXB8r61/s640/IMG_5665.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsF7KvNwRKnRj9uzi9cqR0sMdQyK3Xx9nZvk0aLzODveSePgxV_VLXEAOhosRm1fV1GD9e6akmXyPgp8cs7Co_sgL3xDsvznMBduu1H9La77Wa19OneAt5TcJCJ9ZQ8vi8f31JQz3jMKuMlhN1CDW3u9MtOfKSr3SgbJ_MhkeZ2uOyrcuTeUXB8r61/s320/IMG_5665.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> A few things to tidy up and I was done. One thing I did with the base was to paint it all black, and then with an Xacto knife, scrape the paint off the letters. Only took a few minutes. Again only took a few minutes. <p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Thanks for looking. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; I didn't take a workshop class this year, but they all sold out so a lot of people got some new skills. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Due to timing I got there on Saturday late in the afternoon, and the turnout seemed a little light, but a friend was there early, and said it was very well attended. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">I didn't take pics of the vendor room - there are a lot of those on the various FB pages. But I did shoot the Contest Room. Each model was better than the one before it. Well done by all and looking to the one in 2024!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrWp2fduAFkCIRCOE2BgTVsQp7ndVNvKE7L4NFnGqScGH3QahtW9r2Hx4G72SBnaEwwVWloHF9oBtkyhAZfXT-w34xIjEhC2WWDykegyb-orIVpD59KsiAfcLrhzPWd12juFe15GSh4vX1rzg6YaqKu2Xo23At1caRVNB3GgjFKhv2MqH6ieRDa6WA/s2016/IMG_5484.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; This time it's the base's turn. I added some real dirt, and then attempted to use the static grass applicator to put some patchy grass down. No good. Plugged in and there's no power. I'll have to get a 9 volt and try that. serves me right for buying a cheap one... </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"> </span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtajtGClrYSYDHxz4QhctoiiW6HLx_40GvET7QjoqVBt8UDPkWLqFSVnzYuOKgGZiT-TsLCg7NPfbCh5IvXCfZxuzr56_mGKHhHhWkStralO3p02xSigReZHAW6D-x9K0kdXRXEaPwrwNhs7kwZMStlijU5rG7IE6GCQmlmPhdIBZNSnlCRDNoGfv3/s640/IMG_5227.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="460" data-original-width="640" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtajtGClrYSYDHxz4QhctoiiW6HLx_40GvET7QjoqVBt8UDPkWLqFSVnzYuOKgGZiT-TsLCg7NPfbCh5IvXCfZxuzr56_mGKHhHhWkStralO3p02xSigReZHAW6D-x9K0kdXRXEaPwrwNhs7kwZMStlijU5rG7IE6GCQmlmPhdIBZNSnlCRDNoGfv3/s320/IMG_5227.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Thankfully I have some pre-done tufts and those worked well. Once dried, I painted all the grass RLM 74 - a dark brown green. Lighter greens will be added over the top, and the RLM adds a nice shadow effect. Also added were some leaves cut from a real leaf ( they're a bit too small) and some flocking to mimic moss. </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">Finally I added some cut paint brush bristles to make fallen pine needles. They look a bit too translucent - I should have painted them first. :-/ The last step for the base will be to add some realistic water for the swamp portion.<br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO-EB_0IAjql0OXJi-LkaPDs3g2EBF-2jOGTp_04XIO4WUbotrz_wP1XWsivrIV2cuFqtyu9lIlSV5ecgVwxuFdIMbFF5s1SwKePi57W-UaxNoAYqEldeqoydzq-Iv2pGuyPEPVlgfCZRtXa4Rwyw3cx-wC-y9Mu9orfnDWbpKSJotOU4iczsMDMoc/s640/IMG_5232.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="403" data-original-width="640" height="202" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO-EB_0IAjql0OXJi-LkaPDs3g2EBF-2jOGTp_04XIO4WUbotrz_wP1XWsivrIV2cuFqtyu9lIlSV5ecgVwxuFdIMbFF5s1SwKePi57W-UaxNoAYqEldeqoydzq-Iv2pGuyPEPVlgfCZRtXa4Rwyw3cx-wC-y9Mu9orfnDWbpKSJotOU4iczsMDMoc/s320/IMG_5232.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana;">Moving on to the figure and I have it stuck in my head that Devil = Red. So my original idea is a red into a purple color shift. Images have it more or less a horse shape, and many just leave it a brown color. So my idea will probably morph by the time I'm done. But I tried out my Red Purple, including the wings. Check back for the finale. </span><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiwgczQiXUF_5c1NEnwp6B5tmdby6LzTaHiYVQx5GCEm33Vnj4fjqUib68Ef0NbN6INDSNtHEZeMEIbfYDF8wCt-vke868iUK3ktfVd0qrCnoJr5vKe9UduL2PUEpG_u5rJlM97Y36EtbgZWM8IuTvGAolX1GDlX7bN3lTI2DPkWqaJyHNURX0OGcU/s640/IMG_5276.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="621" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiwgczQiXUF_5c1NEnwp6B5tmdby6LzTaHiYVQx5GCEm33Vnj4fjqUib68Ef0NbN6INDSNtHEZeMEIbfYDF8wCt-vke868iUK3ktfVd0qrCnoJr5vKe9UduL2PUEpG_u5rJlM97Y36EtbgZWM8IuTvGAolX1GDlX7bN3lTI2DPkWqaJyHNURX0OGcU/s320/IMG_5276.jpg" width="311" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1_MtT_bIjs1ZgujDvwW8hbthibQKxLaW5X_994REL6mdoQQzFj3mIs_IKpdur37dpJD4abpJWJQ4Bb2nSBEYtQKnzpu8NLDctNMlskZ3n4CU08H5tcUi102lFPDo-5rIvftH6gn8pbVD3sPEhPH0h2WjrNO0XeXAcLf0goKxJUMTUpRyqa7LHHkeT/s640/IMG_5277.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="609" data-original-width="640" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1_MtT_bIjs1ZgujDvwW8hbthibQKxLaW5X_994REL6mdoQQzFj3mIs_IKpdur37dpJD4abpJWJQ4Bb2nSBEYtQKnzpu8NLDctNMlskZ3n4CU08H5tcUi102lFPDo-5rIvftH6gn8pbVD3sPEhPH0h2WjrNO0XeXAcLf0goKxJUMTUpRyqa7LHHkeT/s320/IMG_5277.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></p>Kevin Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11467784071901676323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288699427458027210.post-36053030837349365892023-08-27T00:37:00.000-04:002023-08-27T00:37:13.658-04:00The Jersey Devil<p> <span style="font-family: verdana;">This kit has been in my stash for a long time. After first seeing it, I had to have it, but once a copy was mine I didn't think I could do it justice, and put it in my pile. </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">The mark on the kit says 2013. </span><span style="font-family: verdana;"> While I consider myself a pretty good novice, I thought I would give it a try. And the timing was right as my model club (the <a href="http://www.bpmsclub.com/">BPMS</a>), was asking for a kit I would build as part of my pledge. This is where you pledge a model to build in January and by October, you have it finished. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Back to the kit. This is another from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/john.dennett.545">John Dennett</a>'s Crypto Legends series. As mentioned the sculpt is outstanding. I don't think anyone has measured the JD, so I have no idea of the scale of the kit. It comes in 10 pieces and a base, made from very clear cream color resin. Here and there you see a hint of a seam line, but a minute or two of scraping and it was gone. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit1cJjAt5m0wPn5zS3AV_QjOenjXLR3jNMe4Ec8iJYqa1EFhALmm7PkNaS2l4epQyQxLvuymSiVquzgeYsKc6cnQK5pEQpRL0-9U_EWwa4mTG7hp1YytUJSr6TxTWhwoF2o6e2dFSekRdBvKEXYsoQrI6kZBMBPIJ3V9XBtbAq_gdpdbZgy-7GSyok/s640/IMG_5224.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit1cJjAt5m0wPn5zS3AV_QjOenjXLR3jNMe4Ec8iJYqa1EFhALmm7PkNaS2l4epQyQxLvuymSiVquzgeYsKc6cnQK5pEQpRL0-9U_EWwa4mTG7hp1YytUJSr6TxTWhwoF2o6e2dFSekRdBvKEXYsoQrI6kZBMBPIJ3V9XBtbAq_gdpdbZgy-7GSyok/s320/IMG_5224.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> With all the parts I figured despite it having tabs, I would pin all the parts. Here's where I ran into something odd. As I drilled into the part it looked like the dust coming out of the hole looked "wet." But when I wiped the drill bit I didn't feel it was wet. Odd. But something was going on as I was most of the way pinning and gluing the parts the minute epoxy stopped working. I had heard of stories years ago of kit weeping after they were cure. This was uncured resin coming thru. This situation it didn't come thru until I drilled into it. switching to regular CA glue solved the problem. <br /><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilXApgJc5og2UZThFYKHsEkjc3PejetGmZhCoVHq8Xss-ceD-uk9NIxA9GsyzfQDNYI4sP_j9jVpasIJ92HasmxaVgvERTuN1Rm9kEX-Ro60AGqgCkWoqX066uuZk5sYbDNgyIxHDRt93SR2c5Y0C8pKp-f3PDEOU1AnRWXkIqtPm8zDr_lqzIpmwV/s640/IMG_5225.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilXApgJc5og2UZThFYKHsEkjc3PejetGmZhCoVHq8Xss-ceD-uk9NIxA9GsyzfQDNYI4sP_j9jVpasIJ92HasmxaVgvERTuN1Rm9kEX-Ro60AGqgCkWoqX066uuZk5sYbDNgyIxHDRt93SR2c5Y0C8pKp-f3PDEOU1AnRWXkIqtPm8zDr_lqzIpmwV/s320/IMG_5225.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />It was time to start priming and thinking of a color scheme... I drive along side the <a href="https://visitnj.org/city/pine-barrens">Pine Barrens</a> on my way to Cape May, so I know whats down there. The sculpt hsd the JD on the edge of a swampy area, so the base is figured out for me. <p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Check back for the color scheme of the JD, and thanks for looking. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPqKXcgUxbk967FKnjwZV5yhJYZdAIfap8GO6o-OBYw9JOYQA0F78_EXs62N5ya5iYUmSEAq35rVSV4atJ3MiXiR_Jy6u2Lm5LCojfcMiJ120uWNEj4jInY2yWHcUeYU-SGoG6CRAsGJt1RIub28h2AKcrAZH9dthxB97gLX9vRpeVRFqWfn8cNfmC/s640/IMG_5227.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="460" data-original-width="640" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPqKXcgUxbk967FKnjwZV5yhJYZdAIfap8GO6o-OBYw9JOYQA0F78_EXs62N5ya5iYUmSEAq35rVSV4atJ3MiXiR_Jy6u2Lm5LCojfcMiJ120uWNEj4jInY2yWHcUeYU-SGoG6CRAsGJt1RIub28h2AKcrAZH9dthxB97gLX9vRpeVRFqWfn8cNfmC/s320/IMG_5227.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <br /><p></p>Kevin Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11467784071901676323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288699427458027210.post-23290020713116989782023-08-10T22:47:00.011-04:002023-08-10T22:53:28.555-04:00The Thing - MacReady<p><span style="font-family: verdana;"> As is my usual, I have 2 or 3 kits going at the same time. So they all usually finish withing a few days of each other. This time I have the character MacReady as played by Kurt Russell. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">The kit is in 4 parts - the bust, each hand, and the base. The likeness is once again excellent, and the casting job is terrific. Only the slightest work is needed to get rid of a hint of seam line on one side of his head. <br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoBLt0e9m7irZcjENomhq8glwAkYQ2_XdnRxlBs-GFx0Y_eIjugRErsnZ66m2oqpcbgYi8mrtJSXwU9wvrSN_CWcPmOxQ1dFsB64KQOtvBkBdu7YoRufgXqtytald7B65KPBpDBbFMZ4duiL_fxHPh5SzFHSIxJON8bkUCyFa3WB4mcHokqAgj71f7/s640/IMG_5076.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="510" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoBLt0e9m7irZcjENomhq8glwAkYQ2_XdnRxlBs-GFx0Y_eIjugRErsnZ66m2oqpcbgYi8mrtJSXwU9wvrSN_CWcPmOxQ1dFsB64KQOtvBkBdu7YoRufgXqtytald7B65KPBpDBbFMZ4duiL_fxHPh5SzFHSIxJON8bkUCyFa3WB4mcHokqAgj71f7/s320/IMG_5076.jpg" width="255" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana;"> Starting to put the primer on...<br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVEemK014_-VHX0b24eVy4GqcnAelpwKjhKboPlP6F0LLS5X0unhm-bmI09picaPMhwif_nl4J3rDg_6NoalV2tKuDSDH7bV6jrWFVqisllQ6uq0d95G_9TbUc4oMytOMdImyUPM2EtIWfh8nf8av8QEXXekfb7nw-69Ld6R7rZE8kwbMfn2aB4bmY/s640/IMG_5078.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="490" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVEemK014_-VHX0b24eVy4GqcnAelpwKjhKboPlP6F0LLS5X0unhm-bmI09picaPMhwif_nl4J3rDg_6NoalV2tKuDSDH7bV6jrWFVqisllQ6uq0d95G_9TbUc4oMytOMdImyUPM2EtIWfh8nf8av8QEXXekfb7nw-69Ld6R7rZE8kwbMfn2aB4bmY/s320/IMG_5078.jpg" width="245" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana;">As with Norris I went overboard with the under colors. His hair is brown and the Net tells me he has blue eyes. Looking at another still, the wire he uses on the blood test was a red on a white spool. I thought the white would be too stark in his hands so I used V's Sky Gray - a very light gray. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">The wire was a small paper clip cut to size and stripped of a little bit of the plastic coating. The paper clip was also painted red, and the bare metal was painted with V's Copper. The Petri Dishes in the film were clear, but I wasn't about to cut it all away and try to recreate it with clear plastic. I painted it up the best I could to make it look transparent. <br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">For the ice, I saw this YT video where they mixed the <a href="https://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/">Woodland Scenics</a> Snow with some clear UV resin. To me it look a little too clear so I added a drop of white. One drop was way too much and IMHO made it too start. I used <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF298G1YWuEXHFq0fFWv-Aw/videos">Precision Ice and Snow</a>'s winter wash on the spaceship - yep the spaceship is sticking out of the mountain on one sire - That just wasn't enuff color so I mixed up more WS Snow and UV resin, leaving out the white paint and added it on. It really looks like chunky ice. That about does it. Thanks for looking.</span><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp0kbuhhR0a1g2JSVp6wDmwVf1s096pyoJi1He2JyS3oE8Jm_CSatjuaD1zYDv1EKDKsAhi75seI3QPdfpxkA4228qxUY43hgjUdEy-HKkiCH4JwkoVbvFL5dMUkEE12j4V6w8qR0daNSU0oqY_e9A1ksXECftXJ0UuIunaBLPlCqz1LCF_cfoO7gE/s700/IMG_5159.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="457" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp0kbuhhR0a1g2JSVp6wDmwVf1s096pyoJi1He2JyS3oE8Jm_CSatjuaD1zYDv1EKDKsAhi75seI3QPdfpxkA4228qxUY43hgjUdEy-HKkiCH4JwkoVbvFL5dMUkEE12j4V6w8qR0daNSU0oqY_e9A1ksXECftXJ0UuIunaBLPlCqz1LCF_cfoO7gE/s320/IMG_5159.jpg" width="209" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu2xXovHLMdDtMMjX776GoDGsBSAG8DEsIKjYxkrCk3XtDsBrUNqHv-Z6uPCTTG8bIwPF-bLBeTmKWtL9n2e26IEffJae3wPyy16fFKoBgDjO1wc1nO0jRTetBLhv6BvCrGLWlB3jgUrVBKfATVlFBWQ40jIrMKhthR7MrM9LvM4fS2lJvLn7Mjva9/s700/IMG_5160.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="513" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu2xXovHLMdDtMMjX776GoDGsBSAG8DEsIKjYxkrCk3XtDsBrUNqHv-Z6uPCTTG8bIwPF-bLBeTmKWtL9n2e26IEffJae3wPyy16fFKoBgDjO1wc1nO0jRTetBLhv6BvCrGLWlB3jgUrVBKfATVlFBWQ40jIrMKhthR7MrM9LvM4fS2lJvLn7Mjva9/s320/IMG_5160.jpg" width="235" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvgqeM9MF6K5JsRcwLSdHMa0ggKosM5admr8vmiHmaBHhx5Qhl4mr58Ai-VpGhiDN-vrvzq7rzYnpsBuA9sXdrLbaQJk52rHj1RglvclzMn3QVZykWrT27wn6Y5U1JleRibBxLJS1cYTpubYvO94t9FKg4sl2oaQNFNmMG_sKJK3qO9HARJm2Hn5xG/s700/IMG_5161.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="618" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvgqeM9MF6K5JsRcwLSdHMa0ggKosM5admr8vmiHmaBHhx5Qhl4mr58Ai-VpGhiDN-vrvzq7rzYnpsBuA9sXdrLbaQJk52rHj1RglvclzMn3QVZykWrT27wn6Y5U1JleRibBxLJS1cYTpubYvO94t9FKg4sl2oaQNFNmMG_sKJK3qO9HARJm2Hn5xG/s320/IMG_5161.jpg" width="283" /></a></div><br />Kevin Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11467784071901676323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288699427458027210.post-69183043702118547122023-08-08T21:30:00.002-04:002023-08-08T21:30:55.905-04:00The Thing - Norris<p><span style="font-family: verdana;"> Over the past few months I've been collecting busts by Gillman Prod., featuring the characters from 1982's The Thing. So far, they have released 5 busts. One little extra was that if you bought the first 3 you got pieces of a kit that will form the Norris Head Spider. At one point you could buy the actual head at a discount. So the Norris Head make kit #6. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">All are approximately 1/4 scale and I'll start with Vance Norris. He was played by Charles Hallahan (1943-1997). There's still a debate as to when Norris gets assimilated. But it comes to a head when he has a "heart attack" and during defibrillation his chest opens up and bites Dr. Copper's arms off at the elbow and from a monster emerges. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">The kit is very well done with 2 parts - the bust and the little monster head. There was a little cleanup of Norris' hair, and where the little monster head meets the next, there needed a little Aves to close a gap. Otherwise cleanup was effortless. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUsav8I46fFkNCne9RnQOBleDtXZ7Q6yB6OazsEVo9ITV46TblbfhrWU8T6W7YWvFQGH1ic-3p9_Q33WNccjHDTS2L-wEcpVOQdqWTQJZhlDPBHrTpf_pl_xUt9lgQthKTn0JNrwiixU4djTIjYl65J764PwgsmOVCBgJCZpY2TVVku_jMva11u_YV/s640/IMG_5077.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="492" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUsav8I46fFkNCne9RnQOBleDtXZ7Q6yB6OazsEVo9ITV46TblbfhrWU8T6W7YWvFQGH1ic-3p9_Q33WNccjHDTS2L-wEcpVOQdqWTQJZhlDPBHrTpf_pl_xUt9lgQthKTn0JNrwiixU4djTIjYl65J764PwgsmOVCBgJCZpY2TVVku_jMva11u_YV/s320/IMG_5077.jpg" width="246" /></a></div><br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5tbf3Wq_y-IC1bPDhGVVLRkR6smZfs5q0rDTGEzOWSoAxlgnUa7nW2AZ5cw2AKaSLRX8RTGfa4A-9CYWkWhvGrb6tHoi0U2g84r-ZQjTCrquaE_KyoaQC3NWbSLNpy3Zc4FCkr2kInA-ygUPeBRG93qS05pEgXlP9xxk66Ausgm47PrY0WePHWlaz/s640/IMG_5079.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="569" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5tbf3Wq_y-IC1bPDhGVVLRkR6smZfs5q0rDTGEzOWSoAxlgnUa7nW2AZ5cw2AKaSLRX8RTGfa4A-9CYWkWhvGrb6tHoi0U2g84r-ZQjTCrquaE_KyoaQC3NWbSLNpy3Zc4FCkr2kInA-ygUPeBRG93qS05pEgXlP9xxk66Ausgm47PrY0WePHWlaz/s320/IMG_5079.jpg" width="285" /></a></div><br /> <span style="font-family: verdana;">Here I tried a little under-painting. From there it was adjusting the highlights and shadows. I painted the throat veins with various greens, and then used Citadel's green wash to fill in the deepest areas. After that I used a green tinted UV resin to make it shiny and gooey. The UV resin matched too closely to the paint I used so I tried some of the Army Painter Speed Paint. It too went on like a heavier wash, and a little V. Gloss brought the goo back to the forefront. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"> Similarly I did the same thing only with reds and pinks to the chest/belly area, and to the coiled monster and gave that a coat of the Pink UV resin to that. The resin was easily painted on (make sure the brush is disposable), and some UV light sealed the whole thing up. Just to make sure I sat it out in the Sun the next morning - Just to make sure. With that I was done. Thanks for looking. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"> </span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFOkq5OekrI2fCimTKP58UZ8N_9IAesL3_QHL7GasL1l7jj96lToyLQDql-kU3rgugNmKMkDDoV90Tg-kyET-0xdCdp1ZGc9_qv3anQvgO39DIx6uMhwhEdsgxReR8k16WWZsEr2O7vzzZ6NM3w47XVe64P15_Aki4eOFfWzy_TmUY1_MeHB_zBjTd/s640/IMG_5147.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="474" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFOkq5OekrI2fCimTKP58UZ8N_9IAesL3_QHL7GasL1l7jj96lToyLQDql-kU3rgugNmKMkDDoV90Tg-kyET-0xdCdp1ZGc9_qv3anQvgO39DIx6uMhwhEdsgxReR8k16WWZsEr2O7vzzZ6NM3w47XVe64P15_Aki4eOFfWzy_TmUY1_MeHB_zBjTd/s320/IMG_5147.jpg" width="237" /></a></div><br /><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYxuA7p52pcSTgNwL5rDFxKtRNuvfKyD8W14tg2Vozzi5xBgTg5bXQBmwmUhOUNKS7P5veGB76im_FRvB4_bGbdzhJF7SGJqmM7JDOsrMD8FQCZeIz2-FmUsF4UzW4RLGNBkGi77Hl_ZV-TqqMBr8nun8HQuS0ZMX9vRHK_p-F-qfN_9U3TeM28BIP/s640/IMG_5148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="492" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYxuA7p52pcSTgNwL5rDFxKtRNuvfKyD8W14tg2Vozzi5xBgTg5bXQBmwmUhOUNKS7P5veGB76im_FRvB4_bGbdzhJF7SGJqmM7JDOsrMD8FQCZeIz2-FmUsF4UzW4RLGNBkGi77Hl_ZV-TqqMBr8nun8HQuS0ZMX9vRHK_p-F-qfN_9U3TeM28BIP/s320/IMG_5148.jpg" width="246" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgll8rkyCFaq8xV9AFSLxZae4067fkyIsa05wN-2Kp_bobtIrPQvN5Zie9vcpw39dj_q4DtuP6AZFI8UYwNCFpkYYiPz-4_qMaj3nN0k_-xsk-KBn2muCN03igKruWMx2T5x6asN3vLlZ9EME3e5NuHZLF1CG7rrtXJw2rccSejYBNo6V706zrxsMJ5/s640/IMG_5149.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="498" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgll8rkyCFaq8xV9AFSLxZae4067fkyIsa05wN-2Kp_bobtIrPQvN5Zie9vcpw39dj_q4DtuP6AZFI8UYwNCFpkYYiPz-4_qMaj3nN0k_-xsk-KBn2muCN03igKruWMx2T5x6asN3vLlZ9EME3e5NuHZLF1CG7rrtXJw2rccSejYBNo6V706zrxsMJ5/s320/IMG_5149.jpg" width="249" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWMopKo39ysoErYz6t6jRHzE9rwagL3GCKw3kObmS4LNq7CtJufIhff_a5azjgIylJdCqJwRU9Se24XHd6Ybm_I1ulua-JB_OgyUC2uazR4dUXdq8XrdSq9gawyLag-Jtd3PLf6Xkqv3UrAjmkdnJGi23IACj2QykI06ZLUz_zCpstxdf7zZeeniML/s640/IMG_5150.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="514" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWMopKo39ysoErYz6t6jRHzE9rwagL3GCKw3kObmS4LNq7CtJufIhff_a5azjgIylJdCqJwRU9Se24XHd6Ybm_I1ulua-JB_OgyUC2uazR4dUXdq8XrdSq9gawyLag-Jtd3PLf6Xkqv3UrAjmkdnJGi23IACj2QykI06ZLUz_zCpstxdf7zZeeniML/s320/IMG_5150.jpg" width="257" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_76F4HAaEYiOYyZVmonbbC8BTzaKgfVf9UvgeFEnVUeZxwOfYCdkAgzKNlnf1TDaRDkyH4mKb7iaBqgBxD8CJXyJ8tMlhHsyoRZgsRVmJ33O4VnR6FyFP74a0gAsttu5sH9V2q2NDDEgf5D0FAG4LGur5Z_LU7j4CsFGyYOlupYcfA6BLn1UunjXT/s640/IMG_5151.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="576" data-original-width="640" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_76F4HAaEYiOYyZVmonbbC8BTzaKgfVf9UvgeFEnVUeZxwOfYCdkAgzKNlnf1TDaRDkyH4mKb7iaBqgBxD8CJXyJ8tMlhHsyoRZgsRVmJ33O4VnR6FyFP74a0gAsttu5sH9V2q2NDDEgf5D0FAG4LGur5Z_LU7j4CsFGyYOlupYcfA6BLn1UunjXT/s320/IMG_5151.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />Kevin Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11467784071901676323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288699427458027210.post-34498036401868176392023-07-22T11:19:00.005-04:002023-07-22T11:19:51.638-04:00Tamiya X-1 Finale<p> <span style="font-family: verdana;">The finals steps for the construction was to put on the landing gear and doors. Usually I put them on when the instructions say to, and then I always knock them off somewhere along the line. Another was to paint and glue on the cockpit canopy. The final step was to put on the decals. Despite looking rather aged, they went on with no problems. One toward the end did rip, but joined up rather nicely. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">With the number of pitot tubes on the craft I decided to glue the plane onto it's base. For that I took a regular 6"X6" square piece of wood and then cut some styrene grooved with "expansion joints" for detail. With that, I was done. Thanks for looking. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUFDLJKIg_DmEFk_Sxy8S2Wtmym7QNOAgvQgs64cB75aCz1btlCZu_Tat0VKRGuU3cwMkrElIWGTAi5OQY8qmXqqEhWAfCq9kYZ4U4CZxlmJ_IlsX0I_R_4d7zyzRkTgWSoyjYoJVjEkWqZuwT1IWocrBiHBBcubYrSLUd2GUvLXSHD_OoHbKv3vbQ/s640/IMG_5033(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUFDLJKIg_DmEFk_Sxy8S2Wtmym7QNOAgvQgs64cB75aCz1btlCZu_Tat0VKRGuU3cwMkrElIWGTAi5OQY8qmXqqEhWAfCq9kYZ4U4CZxlmJ_IlsX0I_R_4d7zyzRkTgWSoyjYoJVjEkWqZuwT1IWocrBiHBBcubYrSLUd2GUvLXSHD_OoHbKv3vbQ/s320/IMG_5033(1).jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyifgStTaxNaoZcIIUt1mhi4KHG2O6i1_g9BkjumKR6L3wAVy7cNr7_xH_-SHUL9s2tVA69QA2okZVj1Ry2DLPkHfx4nX4JIlyOODjp4XhvrcQzBK2nrUY40ra2eKohpKG78uwJHf3Vg5NGZu2PzgM1VlawdpoGyCkZdZI09VzGGoDHsaW6mViuxqq/s640/IMG_5034(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyifgStTaxNaoZcIIUt1mhi4KHG2O6i1_g9BkjumKR6L3wAVy7cNr7_xH_-SHUL9s2tVA69QA2okZVj1Ry2DLPkHfx4nX4JIlyOODjp4XhvrcQzBK2nrUY40ra2eKohpKG78uwJHf3Vg5NGZu2PzgM1VlawdpoGyCkZdZI09VzGGoDHsaW6mViuxqq/s320/IMG_5034(1).jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <br /><p></p>Kevin Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11467784071901676323noreply@blogger.com0
