AWIL Werewolf

  I begin with the same ol' similar story. Yes, this kit is yet another kit that's been in the stash a long time. well done in a white resin, it only has a few thing seam lines. Cleanup should be no problem. I plan to match it to the movie the best I can. The only good shot I remember is the ending in the alley. Let's go. 

As mentioned, only a thin line from the mold needed to be cleaned up. Also a little putty is needed where the legs met the body. The teeth have to be added later.
 

 

The teeth were my first real challenge. They really didn't fit into the mouth properly. The thickness of the "dentures" needed to be thinned, and they seemed to be offset, and bit's taken off the ends to get them to sit straight. But after a little work, they looked good. 

Paint next. I primed in black, and then lots of grays, whites, and a little light blue to fill in the fur. The victim was a bit different. He got the same deal as any other skin tone, except a added a bit of V's white Gray to make him look dead. Some UV resin mixed with some Transparent Red gave be the blood stain. 

A few more tweaks and I was done. Thanks for looking. 

AWIL Nurse Price.

 Once again from the talented Gillman Productions comes Nurse Price from American Werewolf in London. Play by Jenny Agutter, the likeness is very good! The kit comes in 2 parts - the bust and the base. The figure is in 1/4 scale. This figure will also complete the trio with David and Jack.  First thing I looked for a good portrait that shows eye color etc... 

 After a wash and super easy clean up,  I gave the kit a priming. I forgot to take a "before" shot, show here she is primed and with the first layer of face paint.

 To me, her eyes are a hazel green, so that's the way I went.

I wanted to try something new with the base so I painted it black and then dry brushed it with a white. Next I too some thinned inks, and gave it a few shots of blue and purple. I kept the center with a yellow as I was planning on giving the pentagram a splatter of blood.  I think I over did it with the inks, and anyway the highlights lightened with the white was too close together to make it stand out. Lesson learned. 

The portrait was also helpful in seeing what the buttons were on her uniform - well, at least what color they were.  After that I was done. Thanks for looking.
 

AWIL David

I couldn't just leave poor old Jack on the shelf by himself. So I turned to the kit of David from one of his hallucination scenes. 
Actually, David was released first by Gillman Productions. As far as I know he's still available. He's casted in odorless resin and the only seams you can find are mixed in his hair. About an hour of 'combing" out the seam lines leaves you with a perfect hairdo. ;)  A few bubbles also in the tips of his hair are taken care of with a dot of the Vallejo putty. 

There are many images online that show David in this pose so I printed out a face and also looked up and printed out the sign for The Slaughtered Lamb which is featured on the base.  
From there as usual, I started with a face with a coat of flesh, and the golden brown for a base coat of the wooden sign. The sign also got a layer of Citadel's Agrax Earthshade (have I mentioned I love Citadel's washes) ;) - 

Next, I added two different yellows to the eyes, and a reddish flesh around the eyes. The same color was also used in the mouth.

From memory I knew he had either a white face or was very pale, but while studying the image, there's still quite a bit of red in his face.  It looks as if the make up people put the white face on him and then told him to hold his breath for the shot. To get this effect after misting in white I added both red and then red+blue (purple) pastel dust around the face. I don't have a pic from that step, but as I masked to paint in his pajamas you can see the red tone on his forehead. I also cleaned up his hair with a base coat of Dark brown, then a wash of black, then a highlight of leather brown - 

I gave the bust a rest and turned to the sign on the base. The other sides of the base were stone, so that was painted accordingly - 

When the sign was dry I added dirt and soot and then a green "slime" wash to the sides of the stone -

Surprisingly I had a pastel green paint in my stash so I used that  for David's pajamas. I added a little white for the base coat and then straight from the bottle for the creases and shadows.  I was calling this one done. Thanks for looking.

AWIL Jack

One the bench was Jack, from American Werewolf in London.  Poor Jack was cursed to walk the Earth as one of the undead until his pal David, ends the wolf's blood line.

The kit is just two pieces of resin - the bust and the base.

It's a very good likeness of Griffin Dunne. After doing so many busts, I think the sculptor or producer could be a little more imaginative with the facial features. This one like others make it look like Jack was posing for a Founding Fathers marble sculpture. Since the undead Jack was the comic relief, even this screen grab would have been a little better IMHO - 

Anyway, here's the screen grab I used for my paint up - 

 As uaual I started with the two tone primer and then got the skin base coated -

Then I take a side step by dropping it and the pin for the base goes flying across the room. So a brass replacement was installed - 

 From there is was a matter of base coating the rest of the figure. His hair was done in a brown black, with a leather brown highlights. While many give him a green jacket, to me it was a little more tan than green. So I mixed Vallejo's Olive Green with Iraqi Sand and IMHO it looks a little closer to the screen grab. You can also see in the grab that Jack is in need of a shave. So I added some day old grown under the nose and on the chin- 

From there it's on to the blood. I've always had the opinion that less is more when modeling blood. This was going to test me, as Jack's neck wound was very well sculpted.  I mixed several brown, black and red washes to get the look of dried blood. Then a little purple wash was added to what I see as bruises in the screen grab. Finally some Vallejo Red to add to the fresh ooze.

Turning my attention to the base. there's a moon with some clouds and the words "Beware the moon"  which is what Jack tells David at the end of his first visit. I painted the rock base a light gray, then washed it with Nuln Oil. Then I took various light color grays and splattered with low PSI to create tiny dots of color. 
I then glossed the eyes and gave the wounds a coat of gloss to make it all squishy looking, and I was calling it done. Thanks for looking.

New Aquisitions

edit: This post somehow never got published and is out of order from where it should be.
This time around I have 3 busts for you to see. The first, which is primed, is Jack from American Werewolf in London (AWIL). As you can't miss, this is post attack, and I've already primed him.  Next is David again from AWIL. This is when he's already been bitten and has that wacky dream while still in the hospital.  Finally we have a little alien bust. Why? Because you can never have enuff aliens! 
Remember when you think it's not aliens... it's aliens. ;)

New Aquisitions

This time around I have 3 new busts.  The first one on the left is Jack from American Werewolf in London (AWIL). It obviously shows him post death, when he comes back to warn David. He's already been primed. Then we have David, again from AWIL, post attack, this bust shows him how he sees himself while he's having those wacky dreams while still in the hospital.  
Number 3 is an alien. Why? Because you can never have enuff alien kits. ;)
