Rhys, The Cantina Thug

A totally made o character for the Star Wars Universe. His claim to "fame" was that after hanging out at the Cantina, he left which opened up the Table where Han and Chewie sat down.  Done with SS clay and Vallejo paints. He started out with me playing with a little bit of clay and made his head.  I need to go a long way with posing. Thanks for looking.

The Monkey King

This time around I finally finished a mini that has been on and off the to do shelf for literally years. It's the Monkey King from CMON's Rising Sun game.  One thing to note that in the game it was given a name. But word got out that CMON simply looked thru names on Wikipedia. Problem was that the name they picked for this guy was hacked, and is actually the name of "some guy" in New Zealand. People complained that Kickstarters handed over +$4 million and CMON went no further than Wikipedia for research.

With that aside it's a pretty nice little mini. The detail is a little soft, but for the size, it's ok.
Being on and off the desk so long I don't have any pics of the model early on - just one WIP and then the final result, but I figure y'all get the idea. ;) Thanks for looking.

Stanat's Call of the Wild

Dug Stanat is a west coast artist that caught my eye. Quite a bit of his work is mixed media and awesome!  I found his work so intriguing that I joined his Patreon page. When his Patreon store opened I was able to buy one of his sculpts plus a resin cast of his Call of the Wild sculpt.

Spraying gloss black primer ahead of the metallics colors I wanted to use. I also used Silly Putty in the eyes and mouth to keep them gloss black.

Really not happy with the way the final pics turned out All the colors are muted except you get a hint of what I did in the last one. Thanks for looking.

Rolfosteus model

This project all started after seeing an interesting image of the fish on Deviantart.
From the site:
Rolfosteus is a genus of arthrodire placoderm fish that lived in Australia during the Devonian.‭ ‬Though small for an arthrodire placoderm,‭ ‬the stand out feature of Rolfosteus is the enlarged snout.‭ ‬The specific purpose of this snout is still unknown,‭ ‬but fish that develop such a feature usually do so as a form of sensor suite,‭ ‬having a heightened ability to detect things such as smells to even electrical impulses from prey that otherwise might be hidden.

One thing I like was that this fish topped out at approx. 6 inches.  So I was able to make it life size.

The sculpt was done with Super Sculpey, with MoreZmore ceramic beads for eyes.  This guy will be painted ASAP.

Thursday Throw Down 10/3/19

This week's throw down was If a Celebrity was Frankenstein.  I originally misread it as a celebrity Frankenstein. And when I discovered it I only had a couple of days to make the change.  With the hand position the first thing I thought of was Paulie Walnuts from The Sopranos.  So, bada biong, here's Frankie Walnuts.

Trade Federation Landing Ship

Having cleared my bench, I dug deep into the pile and brought out Two Fat Guys' 1:2256 Trade Federation ship as see in the Phantom Menace.

I don't remember how long Two Fat Guys lasted. but they seemed to morph into a one man show starring "The Jimi"  from star Ship Modeler forum fame. ;)   Items from his new operation, JPG Productions, can be easily found at the SSM Store, or from Jimmy on FB

The kit is an old (I'm guessing) OOP kit. But the parts are very well done, with only a tricky seamline here and there.

The kit went together so quickly that I didn't think to take pics until I got most of the kit together.  After the pic I added the bottom portion and it was time to prime already.
More next time, thanks for looking.
